Exposed Aggregate

Process

Now that you are convinced on the advantages and appearance of exposed aggregate, you are ready to take the next step, so what is involved?

  1. Make a call to Gecko Rock and we’ll make a time appropriate to you to meet at your home or office to discuss your exposed aggregate job. We can simply work with your existing plans or sit down with you and help with design. Most importantly, whenever consulting with a client, the overall theme or style of exposed aggregate concrete paving that the client is seeking is considered to ensure continuity. At this stage we will discuss colours and choice of stones to allow the client to add their personal touch. At the end of the meeting we will provide you with a written quote where upon acceptance we will decide on a date with the client to commence.

  2. Where any major earthworks are required we will come in a few days prior to starting the work to get these done. Gecko Rock use only quality earthmoving contractors to ensure your exposed aggregate job is prepared with care and precision.

  3. On the day that the concrete is poured we make an early start to get all the formwork in place. The concrete is poured to a depth of 80mm for pedestrian areas and 100mm for heavy traffic areas.

Protecting your new exposed aggregate
Now that you have your new exposed aggregate what’s next? Sealing is an important part of the exposed aggregate process. The first part of this process is to acid wash your newly laid exposed to thoroughly clean the stones and prepare them for a final seal. An acrylic sealer is used to protect the exposed aggregate and give it a gloss finish to enhance the colours of your chosen stones.

By sealing the exposed aggregate stains from oils, drinks and other liquids can be avoided keeping your exposed aggregate looking new at all times. Where weather permits we come back within 48 hours to seal the exposed aggregate leaving it ready to be used and enjoyed.
